Terms of service

GeorgeTheTutor is one-to-one online IB Diploma tutoring. We pair each student with a mentor who recently sat the same subjects and did well in them, and every session is online and one-to-one. We don’t run big classes or sell pre-recorded courses — it’s simply the personal tutoring you arrange with us.

Booking is refreshingly simple. You tell us what you need, and we arrange sessions with you, or with your parent, directly. You only pay after a session has happened, and only if you were happy with it — never anything up front. We’ll always agree the amount and how you’d like to pay before you begin, so nothing comes as a surprise.

Life happens, and we understand that. You can move a session whenever you need to, and if you have to cancel — or a session simply doesn’t happen — that’s completely fine, with no penalty and no fee. Since you only ever pay for sessions you were happy with, there’s never anything to claim back.

We take care of matching each student with the right mentor, and once yours is set, they’ll usually stay with you for as long as you’re with us. Very occasionally a mentor may become unavailable — if that ever happens, we’ll introduce you to another mentor of the same calibre rather than leave you waiting.

If the student is under 18, a parent or guardian is the one who arranges the tutoring and agrees to these terms on their behalf, and we ask that a guardian stays reachable while sessions are running. And if you’d like a guardian to sit in on a session, you’re always welcome to.

We’ll always give a student our honest best — the guidance we wished we’d had ourselves. Tutoring supports a student’s own work, though, so we can’t promise a particular grade, and we’d never want to pretend otherwise. What we can promise is real, personal help from someone who has sat your exact papers.

Anything we share with you — notes, resources, session recordings — is yours to keep and to use for your own studies, for as long as you like. All we ask is that you keep it for yourself, rather than reselling it or posting it publicly.

There’s no lock-in. Either side can step away whenever they like, with no notice needed. And because you only ever pay for sessions you’ve already had, there’s never anything left to settle beyond those.

These terms may grow and change a little as GeorgeTheTutor does. The date at the top always shows the current version, and the one in place when you booked is the one that applies to you. If anything here is ever unclear, just ask — we’d far rather explain than have you wonder.
