The full process
The home page gives you a sentence per step. This is the same process written out properly — what actually happens, in what order, and what we do when it goes wrong.
Becoming a mentor
Three filters, and every mentor we have has passed all three. We would rather tell a student we have no one for their subject this term than hand them a mentor who is only following the herd and guessing.
We look for mentors who find their subjects easy and take a genuinely student-centric, practical approach to scoring well. The ones who had to reform their own approach when the IB hit them hardest often make the best teachers for someone finding it hard — a transcript cannot tell us who those people are, so this is checked directly rather than assumed.
The first mark of a good teacher is someone genuinely proficient in their subject, so the minimum we accept is 40/45 and we only work with the very best. But a score is checked once and then set aside — it decides whether someone is considered, never whether they are chosen.
You are matched only to the subjects and levels you actually sat. This is not a promise we make and hope to keep — it is enforced by how pairings are created in the first place, so a mismatch is not a policy that could be broken, it is a pairing that could not have been made.
Every one of our mentors is a confident public speaker, and is vetted by students themselves rather than by us. We run real trial classes, and how a mentor actually performs in one — not how they say they would — is what earns them their place.
Starting as a student
Before anyone is paired with you, we want to know what is going wrong — which is almost always more specific than the subject name.
One of the founders speaks to you — and to a parent where you are under eighteen — before a mentor is proposed. It takes fifteen minutes. We focus on not just your trouble subjects, but help you chart a realistic plan to cruise through the IB and get where you want to be.
Subjects, levels, and where it is going wrong. "Maths AA HL" tells us far less than "I lose marks on Paper 3 because I run out of time" — the first gets you a maths mentor, the second gets you the right one. We dig into the specifics to find out what is really happening.
You are paired with a mentor who took your subject at your level and faced the exact same hardships as you. This is enforced by how pairings are created, and a pairing that breaks it cannot be made.
We create a personalized plan, and course correct based on each class and student feedback to ensure we reach the desired score on time. If a pairing is not working or needs adjustment, we adapt immediately — no friction, no hassle.
Tell us your subjects and where it is going wrong. We will come back to you with who we think fits, and why.
